June 6, 2026 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and District Court Surajpur jointly organized a large-scale tree plantation drive under the guidance and leadership of Principal District Judge and Chairperson of DLSA, Mrs. Vinita Warner. Judicial officers, senior and junior advocates from the Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office, teachers, jail administration officials, and court staff actively participated in the initiative.
To promote environmental conservation and expand green cover across the district, three key locations were selected for plantation activities. A significant number of saplings were planted along the boundary wall of the under-construction residential complex for judicial employees, with the aim of providing a cleaner and greener environment for future residents. Plantation was also carried out at Swami Atmanand Excellent Higher Secondary School to encourage environmental awareness and foster a sense of responsibility toward nature among students. Additionally, a large-scale plantation drive was conducted at the District Jail Surajpur to improve the surrounding environment and contribute positively to the mental well-being of inmates.
The plantation campaign included fruit-bearing trees such as amla, mango, and jackfruit, along with Ashoka and other shade-giving and ornamental plants selected to meet future environmental needs. Judicial officers, advocates, DLSA personnel, and court employees enthusiastically participated in the plantation and voluntary labor activities.
Addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the program, Principal District Judge Mrs. Vinita Warner emphasized that planting a sapling is only the first step. She stated that protecting and nurturing the plants until they grow into full-fledged trees is a collective responsibility of society. She also called upon everyone to actively contribute to environmental protection by ensuring the proper care and maintenance of the newly planted saplings.
