Calcutta : The West Bengal government on Monday terminated with immediate effect the tenures of all nominated Members, Directors and Chairpersons serving in non-statutory boards, organisations, bodies and public sector undertakings across the state. The government also ended the services of officials who had been re-engaged after their superannuation.

The decision was taken on the day Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari chaired the first cabinet meeting of the new administration. Apart from the cabinet meeting, a series of high-level review meetings were held with secretaries of various departments, District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to discuss administrative priorities and governance matters.
