Kanker : The Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office Kanker, organized a series of awareness activities under the Cleanliness Fortnight at the Women Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Kanker, on January 28, 2026. The objective of the program was to promote awareness about cleanliness and hygiene among students and the wider community, while reinforcing the core message of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The program commenced with a cleanliness pledge, where all participants pledged to adopt cleanliness as a regular part of their daily lives. Under the guidance of Women ITI In-charge Mrs. Pushpa Dehari, students took part in several engaging and educational activities, including a painting competition, songs and a street play, a cleanliness rally, and a quiz competition. These activities were designed to communicate the importance of cleanliness in a creative and effective manner.
Chairman of the Kanker Municipal Council, Mr. Arun Kaushik, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he emphasized that cleanliness is a shared social responsibility. He noted that a clean environment is fundamental to a healthy society and encouraged young people to actively contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Dr. Arvind Mishra from the District AYUSH Office, Kanker, spoke about correct handwashing techniques and personal hygiene practices. He explained how simple hygiene habits can significantly reduce the risk of disease and improve overall well-being.
Mr. Saket Sharma, In-charge of the Swachh Bharat Mission at Kanker Municipal Council, discussed urban cleanliness, waste management, and the role of citizens in maintaining clean surroundings. He also briefed the audience on the various cleanliness initiatives currently being implemented by the municipal council.
Ms. Shweta Tiwari from Parimal Foundation, Kanker, highlighted the importance of making cleanliness a way of life and urged students to spread awareness within their families and local communities.
At the end of the program, winners of the painting and quiz competitions were awarded prizes by the department. The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and invited guests. Overall, the program successfully motivated participants and underlined the importance of collective effort in creating a clean and healthy environment.
