As part of a joint social outreach programme, the National Highways Authority of India and the National Highways Infra Trust organised eye screening camps in government schools located along the Raipur–Bilaspur National Highway project corridor. The initiative focused on improving child health in communities living close to major highway infrastructure.
The camps were held at government schools near the Tarpongi, Bhojpuri and Mudhipar toll plazas. Specialist medical teams conducted detailed vision examinations of 1,498 students during the programme. Vision-related issues were identified in 102 children, all of whom will be provided free spectacles at the earliest.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Director, Raipur, Shri Digvijay Singh said that the role of the National Highways Authority of India goes beyond building roads. He emphasised that the authority remains committed to the social, health and overall welfare of communities living along national highway corridors, noting that such initiatives are essential for protecting children’s health and supporting their future development.
The programme underscores the continued emphasis by NHAI and NHIT on fulfilling social responsibility alongside infrastructure development, with a focus on creating long-term positive impact in project-affected regions.
