Physiotherapy College Project Launched in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Classes to Begin This Session

April 4, 2026 : The process for establishing a new physiotherapy college in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district of Chhattisgarh has officially begun. The foundation stone for the college building was laid on Friday at Amakherwa Ground by Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.

The project is estimated to cost ₹13.93 crore (₹1393.71 lakh). The college is expected to start offering undergraduate physiotherapy courses with an intake capacity of 50 seats from the current academic session.

Until the permanent campus is completed, the college will operate from the premises of Sindhi Colliery Education Society located in Jhagrakhand. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed with South Eastern Coalfields Limited for this arrangement.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Jaiswal stated that the government aims to expand healthcare and medical education facilities in the district. He emphasized that the new college will allow students to pursue physiotherapy education locally, reducing the need to move to other cities.

Key highlights of the project include allocation of approximately 2 hectares of land for construction and execution by the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation.

The event was attended by several public representatives, including District Panchayat President Yashvanti Singh, BJP District President Champa Devi Pawle, Mayor Ramnaresh Rai, and other officials. Among administrative officers, Collector D. Rahul Venkata and Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Avinash Khare were also present.

The initiative is seen as a significant step toward strengthening healthcare education infrastructure in the region.
