Korba : A drug de-addiction awareness programme was organised at the District Court, Korba, on the occasion of the National Lok Adalat. The programme aimed to spread awareness among judicial officers, advocates, court staff and members of the public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote the message of a drug-free and healthy society.
Legal Defence Counsel of the District Legal Services Authority Rohit Rajwade, Deputy Chiefs Arun Anant, Nand Kishore and Ramkumar Maurya, along with judicial officers, advocates and court employees, attended the programme. Officials and employees of the Social Welfare Department, representatives of the de-addiction centre led by its director Arunav, officials of the Korba Municipal Corporation and members of the public also participated.
Participants were informed about the health, family and social consequences of drug addiction. It was highlighted that substance abuse not only adversely affects an individual’s physical and mental well-being but also has serious consequences for family life and society. The importance of the active involvement of families and communities in keeping young people away from drugs was also emphasised.
During the programme, participants took a de-addiction pledge, committing themselves to staying away from intoxicating substances and encouraging their family members, friends and others in society to do the same.
The programme concluded with an appeal to continue spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and actively contribute to building a drug-free society. Protecting young people from addiction and creating a healthy, safe and aware society was highlighted as a collective responsibility.
