Kawardha : The National Lok Adalat was organised across Chhattisgarh on September 12, 2026, from Taluka Courts to the High Court level, in accordance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, and the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Bilaspur.
In Kabirdham district, the National Lok Adalat was conducted at the district headquarters in Kawardha and the Taluka Court in Pandariya under the guidance of the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority.
A selfie point was also set up at the entrance of the District Court to make the event memorable, allowing litigants and visitors to capture photographs during the proceedings.
A total of 12 benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat, including 11 benches at the district headquarters in Kawardha and one bench at the Civil Court in Pandariya. Cases eligible for settlement through compromise were taken up, including criminal cases, cheque-bounce cases, civil suits, motor accident claims, matrimonial disputes pending before the Family Court, and pre-litigation matters relating to electricity bills, telephone services, bank loans and water tax.
In Bench No. 1, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kumari Sanghratna Bhatpahari passed awards amounting to Rs 52.25 lakh in motor accident claim cases.
In Bench No. 2, Family Court Presiding Officer Praveen Kumar Pradhan resolved 25 matrimonial dispute cases, involving Rs 1.61 lakh, helping restore harmony and strengthen marital relationships through mutual settlement.
Bench No. 3, presided over by Yogita Vinay Wasnik, resolved electricity-related cases involving recovery of Rs 2.47 lakh.
A significant 22,932 pending cases were also resolved in the Revenue Courts. In addition, the Kawardha Municipality settled 221 cases relating to water tax and other municipal taxes and recovered Rs 1.38 lakh.
Overall, the National Lok Adalat resulted in the settlement of 28,953 pending cases across Kabirdham district, involving a total amount of Rs 72,60,583.
