Bilaspur: The High Court Legal Services Committee, Chhattisgarh High Court, Bilaspur, has announced the schedule of pre-sitting meetings ahead of the National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on December 12, 2026 (Saturday). The meetings will bring together representatives of various insurance companies, State Government departments, advocates and concerned parties to facilitate the settlement of pending disputes through mutual consent.
According to an official notice issued by the High Court Legal Services Committee, the pre-sitting meetings will be organised at the Legal Aid and Alternative Dispute Resolution (A.D.R.) Building, Lok Adalat Hall, within the Chhattisgarh High Court premises in Bilaspur. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of the upcoming National Lok Adalat, particularly in insurance-related disputes and service matters classified as WPS cases.
The first round of meetings was scheduled for October 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM, involving the Revenue Department, Home Department, Agriculture Department, Technical Education Department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Forest Department and Water Resources Department.
On October 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM, meetings were scheduled with the School Education Department, Urban Development Department, Higher Education Department, Women and Child Development Department, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Department, Health and Family Welfare Department and CSPDCL.
The Committee has also issued a separate schedule for insurance companies to facilitate the settlement of pending insurance claims and related disputes before the National Lok Adalat.
On November 2, 2026, at 1:30 PM, pre-sitting meetings were scheduled with Oriental Insurance Company, The New India Assurance Company, Shriram General Insurance Company, HDFC General Insurance Company and ICICI General Insurance Company.
The next meeting, scheduled for November 3, 2026, at 1:30 PM, will involve National Insurance Company, Tata General Insurance Company, Reliance General Insurance Company and Cholamandalam General Insurance Company.
On November 4, 2026, at 1:30 PM, representatives of United India Insurance Company, SBI General Insurance Company, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company and Magma General Insurance Company are scheduled to participate in the pre-sitting meeting.
For matters categorised under CRR (Other), the Committee has scheduled a separate meeting on November 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
Focus on Settlement of Pending Cases Through National Lok Adalat
The pre-sitting meetings are intended to provide an opportunity for the concerned departments, insurance companies, advocates and litigating parties to examine pending disputes and explore possibilities of settlement before the National Lok Adalat.
Such advance discussions can help identify cases suitable for compromise, facilitate communication between the parties and reduce procedural delays during the Lok Adalat proceedings. Insurance disputes and service-related matters are among the categories specifically covered by the notice.
National Lok Adalats provide an alternative mechanism for resolving eligible disputes through mutual settlement, helping litigants avoid prolonged court proceedings and reduce litigation expenses. They also contribute towards reducing the pendency of cases before courts and other legal forums.
The High Court Legal Services Committee has requested the concerned departments, insurance companies, advocates and parties to participate in the meetings according to the prescribed schedule.
