CJI Surya Kant Leads Supreme Court in Paying Tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on 135th Birth Anniversary

April 14, 2026 : Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Tuesday led the Supreme Court of India in paying floral tributes to B. R. Ambedkar on his 135th birth anniversary.

At a function held within the Supreme Court premises, the CJI highlighted Dr Ambedkar’s pivotal role as the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution. He noted that Dr Ambedkar laid the foundation of a robust constitutional framework grounded in the principles of equality, fraternity and fundamental rights.

Justice Surya Kant said that the most meaningful way to honour Dr Ambedkar is by adhering to and upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution. Practising these principles in everyday life, he added, would serve as a genuine tribute to the chief architect of the Constitution.
