April 17, 2026 : Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, successfully concluded its ten-day National Faculty Development Program on “Emerging IP Jurisprudence and Evolving Trends of IP Teaching and Research,” organised under the aegis of its DPIIT-IPR Chair, bringing together academics, researchers, and professionals from across India.
Delivering the valedictory address, Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, stressed the central role of academia in shaping a future-ready intellectual property framework. He examined the evolving intersection of intellectual property law, human rights, and public interest, noting that while the judiciary has played a key role in fostering innovation, equal emphasis must be placed on ensuring accessibility and affordability. He urged scholars to actively contribute to developing legal principles that can respond to emerging global and domestic challenges.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. V. C. Vivekanandan, in his welcome address, highlighted Justice Ramasubramanian’s distinguished judicial career and his contributions to promoting scientific knowledge. He observed that the legal system and judiciary function as key enablers of innovation and noted that the increasing volume of intellectual property disputes may soon necessitate the establishment of specialised IP courts in India.
The FDP saw participation from over 70 faculty members, researchers, and professionals nationwide. The programme featured around 20 eminent resource persons, including Antony Taubman of the World Trade Organization.
