April 18, 2026 : The Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai conducted a focused workshop on April 17, 2026, addressing the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, with an emphasis on current challenges and future pathways for effective implementation. The initiative aimed to deepen awareness, reinforce institutional safeguards, and promote a workplace culture grounded in safety, dignity, and inclusion.
The workshop was inaugurated by Director Prof. Rajiv Prakash, alongside Registrar Wing Cdr. Dr. Jayesh Chandra S. Pai. In their opening remarks, both underscored the importance of continuous sensitisation, preventive vigilance, and strict adherence to institutional processes to ensure a respectful working environment.
Staff members participated actively, signalling the institute’s commitment to gender sensitisation and organisational accountability. The sessions were led by Dr. Priyanka R. Mohod and Dr. Pankaj Umbarkar from Hidayatullah National Law University, who provided a detailed breakdown of the legal framework governing the POSH Act, its real-world application, and the operational responsibilities of Internal Complaints Committees.
Discussions covered key areas such as identifying workplace sexual harassment, navigating complaint and redressal mechanisms, maintaining confidentiality, and adopting preventive strategies. The interactive format allowed participants to engage directly with the experts, raising practical concerns and examining real-life scenarios.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rekha Ravindran, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee, who acknowledged the contributions of the speakers and participants.
The workshop reflects IIT Bhilai’s ongoing effort to build a safe, inclusive, and accountable institutional environment.
