Supreme Court Directs Tripura SEC to Hold ADC Village Committee Elections in Single Phase on September 27

June 16, 2026 : The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct elections to the village committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in a single phase on September 27.

A bench comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi issued the direction after Attorney General R. Venkataramani, appearing for the Tripura SEC, proposed that the entire election be conducted in one phase.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Tripura government, concurred with the Attorney General’s suggestion before the court.
