The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), functioning under the Ministry of Ayush, has signed a Common Empanelment Memorandum of Understanding with the General Insurance Council (GIC) in New Delhi. The agreement brings Ayurveda further into the mainstream health insurance framework.
With this MoU, AIIA is now empanelled with all 32 general insurance companies represented by the General Insurance Council. As a result, eligible patients can access cashless treatment facilities for Ayurveda-based healthcare services at the institute.
Speaking at the event, Professor (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati, Director of AIIA, said the empanelment makes the institute eligible to offer cashless treatment under all 32 associated insurance providers. He noted that the move is expected to improve access, affordability, and public confidence in Ayurveda-based medical care.
Alongside the MoU, the Ministry of Ayush launched a dedicated Ayush Health Insurance Helpline. The helpline is intended to assist beneficiaries with insurance-related queries, raise awareness about Ayush coverage, and ensure smoother access to entitled benefits. The initiative is aimed at encouraging wider adoption of insurance-supported Ayush healthcare services.
