March 19, 2026 : The Indian Army’s Southern Command carried out a major field exercise, Amogh Jwala, at the Babina Field Firing Ranges, highlighting its evolving multi-domain combat capabilities. The drill focused on high-tempo mechanised operations, integrating attack helicopters, fighter aircraft, drones, counter-drone systems, and other advanced battlefield technologies.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the exercise demonstrated effective coordination between firepower and manoeuvre, supported by real-time drone-based surveillance and target acquisition. Precision engagement, along with seamless integration of Electronic Warfare (EW), Air Defence (AD), and night-fighting capabilities, formed a key part of the operational framework. The exercise underscored the Army’s transition towards a network-centric and future-ready force.
Army Commander Lt Gen Dhiraj commended the troops for their professionalism, operational excellence, and high level of battle readiness. He stressed that rapid technology absorption, jointness among forces, and the integration of land, air, cyber, and space domains—along with Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and EW capabilities—are critical to building an agile and adaptable force capable of dominating modern battlefields.
