Kejriwal, Sisodia Discharge Challenge Reaches Delhi HC

Delhi High Court to Hear CBI Challenge in Liquor Policy Case on May 4

The Delhi High Court on Thursday scheduled for May 4 the hearing of a plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging a trial court order that discharged former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the alleged liquor policy scam.

The court granted what it termed a final opportunity to the accused to file their replies by Saturday and directed that the complete trial court record be summoned for perusal.

Kejriwal and Sisodia did not appear before the court, stating through communication that they would boycott the proceedings and follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha. Former AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak also conveyed a similar stance.

The High Court further issued notice on a plea seeking to vacate its interim stay order and listed, for the same date, a petition by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking expunction of adverse remarks made against it in the trial court’s ruling.

The trial court had earlier discharged all accused, observing that the case did not meet the threshold for judicial scrutiny.
