Judges Inquiry Committee Submits Report on Justice Yashwant Varma Allegations to Lok Sabha Speaker

May 19, 2026 : The Judges Inquiry Committee probing allegations against former High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma on Monday submitted its report to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House in New Delhi. The report was presented in compliance with the statutory requirements under the Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968.

The committee had been constituted by the Lok Sabha Speaker on August 12 last year to examine the allegations against Justice Varma. The report is expected to be tabled before both Houses of Parliament in due course.

The inquiry panel was headed by Supreme Court judge Justice Aravind Kumar and included Bombay High Court Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and senior advocate B.V. Acharya of the Karnataka High Court. The committee members formally handed over the report to Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House.
