Kondagaon National Lok Adalat Resolves Over 12,000 Cases, Awards ₹4.06 Crore

March 16, 2026 : Kondagaon, March 16: The National Lok Adalat held on March 14 at the District Court premises in Kondagaon resulted in the disposal of 12,123 cases, with a total award amount of ₹4,06,67,607.

The event was organized under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the State Legal Services Authority, Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur. The proceedings were inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, Kiran Chaturvedi.

To facilitate the settlement process, a total of eight benches were constituted. These included three benches at the District Court Kondagaon, one bench at the Taluka Legal Services Committee in Keshkal, two benches at Narayanpur, and one bench each at the revenue courts of Kondagaon and Narayanpur for revenue-related matters.

A wide range of cases were resolved amicably through mutual settlement. Bank recovery cases accounted for 1,958 matters, with awards totaling ₹33,09,797. In criminal cases, 12 matters were settled with an award of ₹3,70,000. A total of 2,678 electricity bill-related cases were resolved, involving ₹6,55,407.

Motor accident claim cases saw significant compensation, with eight cases resulting in awards worth ₹2,14,80,000. Additionally, four cheque bounce cases were settled with ₹3,83,500 awarded, while nine other civil cases resulted in awards totaling ₹1,39,52,403.

Traffic challan cases numbered 1,566, generating ₹1,59,700 in penalties. Revenue-related disputes formed a major portion, with 4,908 cases resolved. Municipal matters included 850 cases, resulting in ₹3,62,000, along with settlements in 97 telecom-related cases and 33 other miscellaneous matters.

Alongside the legal proceedings, a health camp was organized by the District Hospital Kondagaon team, where attendees underwent blood pressure and sugar level checks and received necessary medications.

In a unique initiative promoting environmental awareness, saplings of cashew, jamun, amla, and lemon were distributed to parties who resolved their disputes through mutual consent.
