NHRC Internship 2026: Application Guidelines Released on HRCNet Portal

New Delhi : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has published detailed guidelines for candidates applying to its internship programmes through the official HRCNet portal, outlining eligibility, documentation, and step-by-step application procedures.

According to the official guidelines available on the HRCNet website, students pursuing graduation, law (LLB), integrated law courses, or postgraduate studies in human rights and related disciplines are eligible to apply, subject to conditions specified in the respective internship advertisement.

The Commission has capped the maximum age limit at 28 years, calculated as per the specified cut-off date. Candidates who have previously completed an internship with NHRC are not eligible to apply again.

The application process is entirely online and requires candidates to complete a structured registration and verification process. Applicants must first verify their mobile number and email ID through an OTP before filling in personal and academic details. The form requires candidates to enter educational qualifications starting from Class 10 onwards, along with marks expressed strictly in percentage format.

A key component of the application is the Statement of Purpose (SOP), which must be submitted within a 250-word limit. The SOP plays a significant role in the selection process, along with academic performance.

Candidates are also required to upload several documents in prescribed formats and sizes, including Class 10 and 12 certificates, graduation records (if applicable), latest mark sheet, institutional ID card, and a recommendation letter from the head of their institution. A passport-size photograph must also be uploaded within the specified size limit.

The NHRC has been conducting internship programmes since 1998 as part of its mandate under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, to promote human rights awareness and education among students. The internships, offered in both online and offline formats, provide exposure to the Commission’s functioning and human rights issues.

Interested candidates can apply through the official HRCNet training portal after ensuring compliance with all eligibility criteria and documentation requirements.
