NCW to Host ‘Shakti Samvaad’ at Bharat Mandapam to Strengthen Coordination with State Women’s Commissions

Law Notify : The National Commission for Women (NCW) will organise ‘Shakti Samvaad’, a two-day interactive and capacity-building meeting with State Women’s Commissions (SWCs), at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi starting Thursday.

The national-level dialogue, which concludes on Friday (January 30), is aimed at strengthening institutional coordination, sharing best practices, and enhancing the functional capacities of State Women’s Commissions. This will be the third edition of Shakti Samvaad within a year, following earlier meetings in Ayodhya and Mumbai, underscoring NCW’s ongoing focus on cooperative federalism in advancing women’s rights and welfare.

The event will bring together representatives from State Women’s Commissions across the country, making it a truly pan-India engagement. It will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The programme will also include the release of NCW’s book Safarnama, which documents personal testimonials of its staff members, along with prize distribution for winners of the online poster-making competition themed ‘Stay Safe Online’.

Over the two days, discussions will focus on improving complaint-handling and investigation mechanisms, strengthening management information systems and helpline services, reviewing state-specific legislation, and enhancing coordination between NCW and State Women’s Commissions on legislative matters. Deliberations will also cover advancing the national initiative ‘Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat’, developing a roadmap for district-level Jan Sunwai across the country, and sharing innovative practices adopted by various State Women’s Commissions.

NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said Shakti Samvaad represents more than a routine meeting. “It is a shared resolve. When State Women’s Commissions and the National Commission for Women come together on one platform, coordination becomes seamless, responses become faster, and solutions become more grounded,” she said.

She added that sustained dialogue is critical to ensure that women-centric laws, services, and grievance redressal mechanisms reach those who need them the most.

The two-day engagement is expected to result in actionable outcomes and stronger institutional collaboration, further reinforcing the rights, safety, and dignity of women across India.
