High-Voltage Campaigning Intensifies Ahead of Second Phase of West Bengal Polls

April 25, 2026 : Campaigning has picked up momentum for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, scheduled for April 29, with major political players stepping up their outreach across the state.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin led a roadshow in Baranagar, asserting in a social media post that the state is prepared to reclaim its past glory and decisively reject what he termed as “politics of fear.”

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari launched a sharp critique of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging corruption and appeasement in governance.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed strong confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects. Addressing the media, he stated that the party is on course for significant victories in both Assam and West Bengal.

On the other hand, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh claimed that the party has performed well in the first phase of polling and remains confident of retaining power in the state.

Congress leaders Pramod Tiwari and Akhilesh Prasad also weighed in, asserting that the Congress will play a decisive role in government formation after the elections. Notably, the party is contesting the West Bengal Assembly polls independently for the first time in two decades.
