June 21, 2026 : A National Lok Adalat was successfully organized under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority, Sessions Division, Nampally, Hyderabad, providing an effective platform for the amicable settlement of disputes and the delivery of accessible justice. The event was inaugurated by In-charge Sessions Judge J. Vikram.
On the occasion, Justice Sam Koshy, Judge of the Telangana High Court and Executive Chairman of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, visited the Nampally Court Complex along with Chi. Panchakshari, Member Secretary of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority. During the visit, Justice Koshy inspected various Lok Adalat benches and closely observed the settlement proceedings. He interacted with judges, advocates, and litigants to gain firsthand insight into the dispute resolution process being carried out through the Lok Adalat mechanism.
Justice Koshy personally handed over Lok Adalat awards to litigants whose cases had been successfully settled through mutual compromise and congratulated them on reaching amicable resolutions. He highlighted the significant role played by Lok Adalats in ensuring speedy, affordable, and people-friendly justice. According to him, settlements achieved through compromise not only save valuable time and litigation expenses but also help preserve family relationships and social harmony.
He further advised judges, advocates, government departments, and police officials to work in close coordination so that all eligible and compoundable cases are effectively referred to Lok Adalats for settlement, thereby strengthening access to justice and reducing prolonged litigation.
Addressing the gathering, In-charge Sessions Judge J. Vikram described the Lok Adalat system as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism that enables quick and economical settlement of disputes. He observed that resolving pending court matters and pre-litigation disputes through mutual consent benefits all stakeholders by reducing both financial and emotional burdens while simultaneously easing the backlog of cases before courts. He encouraged citizens to make full use of the Lok Adalat platform for resolving disputes amicably.
The National Lok Adalat heard and resolved a wide range of matters, including civil suits, cheque bounce cases, motor accident compensation claims, bank recovery disputes, family and matrimonial matters, labour disputes, compoundable criminal cases, pre-litigation disputes, and other cases suitable for settlement through compromise.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of P. Aruna Kumari, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (Sessions Division), Hyderabad.
Among those present were Hyderabad ACP M. Srinivas, Deputy Director of Prosecution A. Ram Reddy, Bar Association President Balaraju, judicial officers, bench members, advocates, police personnel, officials of the District Legal Services Authority, court staff, litigants, and members of the public, who participated in large numbers and contributed to the success of the National Lok Adalat.
