April 26, 2026 : Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Bilaspur MP Tokhan Sahu on Sunday inaugurated a series of advanced healthcare facilities developed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of National Thermal Power Corporation at Sipat. The projects, built at a total cost of about ₹7.19 crore, aim to significantly strengthen medical infrastructure in Bilaspur.
At the Government Super Speciality Hospital, facilities worth nearly ₹4.27 crore were unveiled. These include a modern blood centre, a microbiology laboratory, a hormone lab, and an Artificial Intelligence-based microscopy system. The blood centre, described as the first of its kind in Chhattisgarh, is equipped with advanced technology expected to improve diagnostic precision and treatment outcomes.
In addition, medical equipment worth around ₹2.92 crore was inaugurated at Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences. As part of the initiative, 26 advanced machines have been installed across eight departments. These include a colour Doppler system, chemiluminescence analyser, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) unit, C-arm imaging system, operation theatre table, dental chair, mortuary freezer, MO2 fractional laser system, and ACT machine. Formal documentation for the transfer of these assets from NTPC Sipat to CIMS was also completed during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sahu said the initiative marks a major step in improving healthcare services in Chhattisgarh. He noted that modern laboratories, an upgraded blood centre, and advanced diagnostic tools would help ensure faster and more effective treatment for patients while also contributing to overall regional development.
Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Director and Medical Superintendent of the Government Super Speciality Hospital, highlighted that the new blood centre is fully computerized and operates through an online system, ensuring transparency and efficiency. He added that the facility will provide Single Donor Platelet (SDP) services, which are critical for patients battling conditions such as cancer and dengue. The addition of apheresis machines and AI-enabled microscopy is expected to support faster and more accurate diagnosis of complex diseases.
Dean of CIMS, Mr. Ramanesh Murthy, said the newly installed equipment would enable local diagnosis and treatment of serious illnesses, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger cities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bilha MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, Bilaspur MLA Amar Agrawal, Mayor Pooja Vidhani, District Panchayat President Rajesh Suryavanshi, and District Collector Sanjay Agrawal, along with senior officials from NTPC Sipat, including Project Head Swapan Kumar Mandal, medical professionals, and local residents.
The initiative underscores NTPC Sipat’s continued focus on community development and public welfare, while marking a significant improvement in access to quality healthcare for residents of Bilaspur and nearby areas.
