Tree Plantation and Legal Awareness Drive Organized in Bemetara on World Environment Day 2026

June 8, 2026 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bemetara organized a large-scale tree plantation and legal awareness campaign to promote environmental protection and public awareness. The programme was conducted under the ‘State Plan of Action’ Calendar 2026-27 of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, and the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Bilaspur.

The plantation drive was held at the under-construction court complex in Kobia under the guidance of Saroj Nand Das, Chairman and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bemetara. Judicial officers, advocates, and court staff participated in the event, including First Additional Sessions Judge Devendra Kumar, Third Civil Judge (Senior Division) Aarti Thakur, First Civil Judge (Junior Division) Shruti Sahu, First Additional Judge Tushar Barik, and Bar Association Secretary Dikendra Devangan.

Addressing the gathering, Saroj Nand Das said that the monsoon season is the most suitable time for plantation as nature itself supports the growth and preservation of saplings. He emphasized that if every individual plants and nurtures at least one tree, future generations can be provided with a clean, safe, and pollution-free environment. He described a tree not merely as a plant but as the foundation of a secure and sustainable future.

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, DLSA para-legal volunteers also carried out plantation activities at the district jail, DLSA office premises, Berla police station campus, Kurud village, and Akalwara Gram Panchayat at the taluka level. Legal awareness camps were simultaneously organized at various locations to educate people about the importance of environmental conservation and related legal provisions.

The programme was attended by Jail Superintendent Rahul Pandey, Staff Nurse Deepanjali Daniel, jail personnel, court employees, and para-legal volunteers associated with the District Legal Services Authority.
